1. Live a Life
of Prayer
It has been said that you'll become like those you spend most of your time with. So, why not spend time with the one that holds your very life in existence? One can do this by participating in devotions such as Adoration, the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and a Novena.
2. Frequent the Sacraments
It cannot be said enough how important it is to take advantage of all the graces our Lord wishes to bestow upon us through frequenting the Sacraments, especially confession and Holy Mass.
3. Join a R.P.P. Community
Trying to overcome an addiction or habit to viewing pornography by one's self will never bring about healing and recovery. We need to be able to lean on and ask for support from one another in times trial and tribulation. God made us to be relational creatures for a reason. We mustn't neglect the healing power of being a part of a community of individuals who are on the same path of healing.
Recovery Coaching 9 Point Plan
4. Individualized Recovery Plan
Every person has their own unique story and journey toward attaining holiness. That is why the R.P.P. recovery coaching team takes time to build an individualized recovery plan for each person.
5. Eliminate Temptation
Although it is practically impossible to eliminate all temptation to lust, that does not mean that one shouldn't eliminate most temptations to lust. This can be done by avoiding certain social media platforms, movies with inappropriate scenes, and by investing in a filtering software.
6. Guided Program
Programs such as Reclaim and Integrity Restored have been found to be extremely helpful in the recovery process.
7. Support Groups
Similar to the R.P.P. Community, attending support groups is a great way to be a part of a group of people that are on the same healing path. One example of a support group is the S.A. 12 Step Group.
8. Spiritual Direction
Today, we find ourselves in a world that likes to forget about personal relationship with Jesus. This is where spiritual direction is vital. It is important to remember that there are choices we make, that either lead us closer to Jesus, or further away.
9. Counseling/ Therapy
The thought of counseling can seem quite daunting. However there is much healing that can be found in attending counseling sessions. There are many Catholic sexual addiction counselors and therapists. And they are literally trained to help individuals overcome the addictions and habits that are ruining their life. So, why not tap into their professional ability to aid in the recovery journey?
